Combine Your Passions to Create Your Vision: A Key Step on The FUSE Pathway

Posted on October 1, 2024 in Fusioneering

The FUSE Pathway rewrites what’s possible with a framework designed to guide you toward breaking from convention and finding a new way to live, structure a career, reach your greatest potential, and love what you are doing.

Identifying Your Passions

The first step of the FUSE Pathway is Find. This critical phase is about self-discovery—identifying the activities and the passions that fuel your enthusiasm, the moments that ignite your curiosity, and those that make you lose track of time.

Fuse Them Into Your Personal Driving Vision

Look for connections. For example, if you love writing and traveling, have you thought about becoming a travel writer? Finding connections helps you shape an authentic, inspiring vision.

By recognizing what excites you on a deep level, you begin laying the foundation for a personal vision that will continue to guide you on your journey. This vision will serve as a continuous source of energy and inspiration, driving you forward with energy and enthusiasm.

After identifying your passions, it might be helpful to see how well your vision connects to a broader purpose for your life. Stephen Cope, in The Great Work of Your Life, calls this your dharma—your sacred duty. When your purpose becomes part of your vision, it acts as a grounding force, providing clarity and resilience during challenges.

Similarly, the Japanese concept of Ikigai—your reason for being—emphasizes the fulfillment that comes from living in alignment with your true nature. When your vision aligns with your purpose, life becomes more meaningful and deeply satisfying.

Ask yourself: Are your passions aligned with how you live? If they feel disconnected, explore why. When your vision reflects both your passions and your purpose, it becomes a powerful motivator.

Now, picture your vision as the seat of a stool. The legs of the stool represent the domains you’re fusing together. As you develop your vision, you may desire to add or develop additional domains. Our travel writer, for example, may want to add photojournalism as a new leg (or domain) on their stool. While doing your homework and exploring your domains, you might glean new ideas for what might be possible. That’s exciting.

The Big Surprise

You’ll find that once you identify your passions and merge them into a personal vision, you’ll have so much energy and motivation going forward. Through ups and downs, it doesn’t matter. You’re living your dream all along the way.
